The Developer & Architect
The redevelopment of White Sulphur Springs is the vision of Mount Airy native and real estate industry veteran Burke Robertson. His firm is collaborating with Winstead Wilkinson Architects on a master plan and architectural style that respects and preserves the environmental integrity of the 145-acre property.
Developer
Robertson is the founder of Burke Robertson & Associates, now known as Coldwell Banker Mountain Valley Properties, a multi-faceted real estate company based in Mount Airy, NC.
Established in 1988, the company’s current signature development project is White Sulphur Springs. Located three miles from downtown Mount Airy, NC, the 145-acre hillside resort and residential community was once home to the famed turn-of-the-century White Sulphur Springs Hotel.
Coldwell Banker Mountain Valley Properties serves a diverse clientele and offers a wide range of services, including real estate investment, asset management, brokerage and consultation for investment properties throughout the Carolinas and Virginia.
Robertson pursued the first half of his 36-year real estate career in Raleigh and Charlotte where he served as vice president of retail development for one of Charlotte’s leading commercial development companies, Crosland-Erwin Associates, now known as Crosland. Prior to that, he was vice president and manager of real estate lending in North and South Carolina for NationsBank, now Bank of America.
He returned to Mount Airy in 1991 to enjoy a simpler lifestyle and to serve a community, which had imbued him with lasting family-oriented values and a passion for the scenic outdoors inherent in this mountain area. Robertson is a staunch ambassador for the greater Mount Airy community and is personally committed to enhancing its economic potential while preserving its historical integrity and community-focused small-town character.
In addition to Coldwell Banker Mountain Valley Properties, he co-established Master Craft Builders of Mount Airy Inc. in 1998. He has also renovated and is owner of several retail shops in downtown Mount Airy, including the Main Oak Emporium, The Good Life Café & Market and Good Life Outfitters.
